This talk uses Franklin’s own witty and wise words to portray his long winding road to revolution. Benajmin Franklin had prospered as a proud subject of the British Empire. When the British Parliament began chipping away at Americans’ rights to govern themselves, Franklin worked for twenty years to patch up the quarrel. When that failed, he embraced a new dream: an independent United States.
