Although the Minutemen stood tall at Concord bridge, winning a war against the British Redcoats required a professional army. On June 4, 1775, Congress created the “American Continental Army.” While experiencing more setbacks than successes, the Continentals basked in the glory of victory at Yorktown seven years later.
